Entry and Exit

  • Directions: Entry/Exit are behind Kitty Hawk Kayak located on the south side of Route 158 in Kitty Hawk, just east of the bridge from the Outer Banks to Point Harbor.
  • GPS: N 36 deg 05.656' W 075 deg 44.227'
  • Fee: just ask the store if you can use their ramp
  • Description: unpaved kayak ramp, adjacent dock
  • Parking: Adjacent, unpaved
  • Facilities: Restrooms, store with soft drinks, restaurants nearby

What We Saw

Ginguite Creek is open to the sound at both north and south ends. We headed south (left) from Kitty Hawk Kayak. We were warned that there was a large goose with an attitude to the north near the Route 158 bridge, so we played it safe.

It was a very pleasant, easy run south through lots of trees. The scenic highlight was the stylish covered bridge in the photo above.

We did this in late may and flies were a problem in a few areas, so we suggest insect repellent or mesh hats.
We didn't go all the way to the sound at the southern exit point of the creek, but were told that's a nice paddle.
